Restoran Sri Grand City

Restoran Sri Grand City is situated in Section 11, Petaling Jaya near the University Hospital. I have heard about this place from members of the IRC group and since I was in the vicinity, I decided to give this place a try. I was early that morning again and feeling hungry, I headed to look for this restaurant.
I managed to get a place to park nearby and I could see that I was not the early bird as that area was already crowded and parking was rather full. This area has three Indian restaurants namely Sri Paandi, which draws a bigger crowd, then comes Sri Grand City and another further down the road which was rather empty. Anyway, I sat myself down at an empty table and waited a while to see if anyone would come to serve me. Not sure if the waiters were dreamy that day or just not attentive. Finally, one of them came to take my order. I ordered a set of poori and my usual teh tarik.  While waiting for the food to arrive, I decided to take a few pics of the place.

My order of Poori came in a set of two
poori and lots of potato gravy.

A closer look at the potato gravy. Taste was
quite good.

Another look at the poori set.
Overall, I would say the food here is quite good but the service needs improvement. I also enquired about their BLR and was told that they charge RM7.00 for the basic BLR which I think is more expensive than many other places but where cleaniness is concerned especially the toilet, this place shines. I'm impressed with it. Still a good place to come for your meals.

Uncle Appu Curry House

I have been hearing a lot about Uncle Appu Curry House, in Section 19, Petaling Jaya and one morning, I decided to give this place a try. This restaurant is situated at the busy intersection previously known as the Rothmans Roundabout and traffic can be horrendous depending on the day and time you are in that area. However, I was early that morning and I managed to get a parking spot nearby and made my way to the restaurant.
What impressed me was the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendly staff.  I found an empty table inside and sat myself down. The waiter immediately came and took my order. Whenever I try the breakfast in a new place, I will normally order a Rava Tosai to gauge the food. My tea and tosai came rather fast and I was pleased.  The Rava Tosai would have been nicer if it was left on the pan a bit longer as I like it a bit crispy. The sambar or dhall made however made my day as it was thick rather than the diluted kind many other places serve. It had lots of dhall (lentils) and was very tasty without the taste of MSG. Another plus point is their Onion Chutney which was awesome. Here are some pics which I took of Appu's.

The front portion of the restaurant.

My order of Rava Tosai. As I mentioned, it would have been nicer if it was crispier.

Just look at the thick sambar with lots of
lentils. Beside it is the Onion Chutney.

The chili chutney with another helping
of the thick sambar.
My Rava Tosai and tea came to only RM 3.50 which was much cheaper than many other places. I enquired from the staff about their basic BLR and was told that they charge only RM 5.00 with 3 vege. Wow! Thats much cheaper than most places and the food is tasty too. I will definitely make another visit to Appu's for lunch to try their BLR.  Cleanliness is also their plus point.

Early breakfast at Lavaniz Curry House, Subang Jaya.

I was up and early this morning. I was in the vicinity of Subang Jaya and decided to head over to Lavaniz Curry House in SS.14. This is the place my friend Nov Velan was telling me about for its good food so I had to come and try out this place.  Getting there was quite easyas I know the area. The only thing is there is lots of construction going on for the LRT .
Anyway, I found the restaurant and made my way to find a table. As it was early at around 8.30am, I was one of the first customers there. They had the usual breakfast fare which I like and the waiter was very friendly. I took some pics of the food and I hope you like them.

The entrance to the restaurant.

My order of a single poori. Normally comes
in a set of two poori but I only wanted one as
I wanted to try something else

My small plate of poori with dhall.

Uppuma on the food tray.

I love the potato gravy with poori.

Fresh Idli.

The vadai looked nice.
I had a good breakfast here which was tasty and cheap. I was told that lunch starts from 11.00am and they have a wide array of awesome dishes which includes nasi biryani. This calls for another visit to Lavaniz Curry House, this time for lunch.
