Maxwell Road's Famous Mee Goreng

If you ask anyone from Ipoh which is their favourite Mee Goreng, they will tell you the various places in and around Ipoh where they usually have it. Majority, however, will point you to this place in Maxwell Road where you will find a few stalls selling food from noon till evening.
I have a friend there selling his wonderful pisang goreng and fried cempedak but my main aim to go there is for the mee goreng. There are no tables here so if you order your food, you can sit on the plastic stools along the pavement beside the shop. Most people pack or 'tar pau' the mee goreng. I love having it there as I can have my favourite cendol or mun tau long (a seaweed jelly drink) with my food.

It is served on waxed paper.

The Wan Tau Long. Very refreshing and
goes well with the mee goreng

If you happen to be in Ipoh and fancy some mee goreng, just head on over to Maxwell Road.  The crowd picks up momentum from 1-2pm and goes on till evening.
