A Little House by the River

We had a late lunch yesterday and felt like having Chicken Rice. We decided to go to the Ipoh Road area which is nearby.  I have been a regular at this place as I like the texture of the rice. Getting here is easy. You just need to turn right at the traffic lights at the HSBC bank, go along Jalan Kasipillay till you reach a bridge at Sg. Batu. The distance is just around 100 metres from the traffic lights and this little wooden house is just by the river. There is only a small sign written in Chinese characters giving the name of the shop.
Anyway, we managed to park just outside the house and found ourselves  an empty table and immediately the waiter (quite an old guy) came and took our order. We ordered half a chicken, roast pork (siew yoke) and rice to go. Unfortunately, they had run out of char siew so we just settled for our order.

They also serve Steamed soup upon order. I love the chili sauce here as it packs a punch and keeps you longing for more. It seems to be quite a popular place for chicken  rice. So if you,re in the vicinity, this should be a good place to go to.

Banson, A Cosy Place For Cendol

One night after having dinner at home,  my nephew took us for a drive to Bangsar South aka Kerinchi. He told us of this restaurant called Bansan located in The Sphere. I have not been to The Sphere in quite a long while and was surprised with how it looks now. Everything looked new compared to what it was a few years back.
Anyway, we made our way up to Bansan on the first floor and as it was a very cool night, we decided to sit outside at the non aircon area. Service was prompt as the waiter immediately came with their menu. We ordered some Ice Kacang (ABC) and also Cendol as can be seen in the pics below:

I have yet to try their food but was told that their Penang Hokkien Noodles (Har Mee) and Laksa are very popular choices here. You can have the Har Mee with ribs or just the normal serving. Prices are slightly higher because of the locality and ambiance but the place packs quite a crowd. Now you won't have to go north to Penang to taste good Penang food.
