A small gathering of friends over homecooked BLR lunch

I was invited for homecooked lunch yesterday by my friend Nov Velan. He made arrangement for a few of us to meet up at his home where he prepared an awesome lunch for us. I picked up my friend Venoth and headed to Velan's place. We were all friends on Facebook but I had not met them personally and this was a very good opportunity to really meet up. Another FB friend, Praveen,  also came to join us.
When we arrived at Velan's home, he was still busy with his cooking and I could smell the wonderful aroma of his cooking. Soon the cooking was done and the table was set with the awesome spread of dishes and fresh looking banana leaves from the garden.

We were also joined by another new friend Fa Abdul and her daughter and later, Velan's two sons joined us for lunch too. We all really enjoyed the awesome spread that was laid out for us. One dish in particular that Velan prepared was the mutton varuval and he even has it on his own blog http://cookwithvelan.blogspot.com/2015/04/mutton-varuval-pressure-cook-mutton.html. Do read up his blog post on it if you are a mutton fan as that dish is really awesome. We all left Velan's place after lunch feeling very happy and contented. Nov Velan, you're a great host and and a wonderful chef and we thank you for your hospitality.

BLR lunch at Annapuurna Chettinand Restaurant

My nephew had the sudden craving for mutton peratal today and he suggested that we go try this place in Bangsar called Annapuurna Chettinand Restaurant. He had been there before and loved the mutton peratal so much that he had to satisfy his craving for it. We made our way there and were lucky to find a parking just near the restaurant. It was also a rather cool day today.
When we arrived, the restaurant was already full of diners tucking in to their food and there was only one vacant table.  Service was fast as their staff were quick to clear the table, lay out the banana leaves and start serving us. They had no mutton peratal today but had the mutton bones peratal which looked good too so my nephew settled for a serving of it.

There were a couple of things that we ordered but I did not have time to take pics as we were all very hungry and already tucking in to our delicious food. One of them was their fresh fried chicken which was also awesome. While we were enjoying the food, I noticed that one of their cooks was making capati and it looked good too. I will probably try it the next time I come here again. So much choices here and if I may add, they also pride themselves with the making of good paal apam (sweet apam) which is also my favourite.
After a very satisfying BLR lunch, we went home and 'Hit the Hay' (meaning to take a well deserved nap).
