Of Fries and Wraps

I have always loved fries and when I was in Melbourne, I went to a very popular place called Schnitz. This place is in the Chadstone Shopping Centre on Melbourne's south east. Schnitz has many outlets all over Melbourne but since this is the nearest outlet, we decided to go there for dinner.
I was told that this place serves really awesome fries and loved it on my first bite. We ordered a few different things on their menu to try and these are some of the pics which I took.

Greek food at Hellenic Republic, Kew, Melbourne

I was in Melbourne recently for a holiday and enjoyed the sights and food.  We were invited to lunch one day to a Greek restaurant in Kew, one of the beautiful suburbs of Melbourne. This restaurant called Hellenic Republic is run by Masterchef and Restaurateur George Calombaris. I had not tried Greek food and was eager to try it.
We arrived at the restaurant and were immediately taken to our table as we had made prior booking. The staff were very efficient and polite. Water was immediately served to us while we looked through the menu. It did not take long for the food to arrive after having decided on our menu. Everything looked so good and tempting. Below are some of the pics I took of the awesome food.

The above pics were some of the food we had and I must say I really enjoyed it very much. They have a few outlets in Melbourne but this is the nearest for us and parking here was easy. I definitely will make another visit to this restaurant on my next trip to Melbourne.

Everybody Moon De Moon

I have heard about this place from friends and relatives and since I was in Ipoh the other day, I decided to give this place a try. This coffeeshop is situated at a row of shops facing the Kinta River and in a housing area called Taman Mirindy. I used to frequent this area with my friends long ago when this area was not developed yet and spend our time by the river. To get here, you have to come through Kg. Simee or Star Park.
This coffeeshop is very popular and you have to get there early as the curry noodles and Koay teow soup (Kai See Hor Fun) will be sold out very fast. When I arrived in Ipoh that morning, we headed straight to this place and already, the place was very crowded. We ordered our drinks which came rather quickly but we had to wait for quite a long while before the noodles arrived due to brisk business. The price of the noodles average between RM4.50 to RM5.00 and the portions are rather small. Anyway, when the noodles arrived, we tucked in and savour the 'so-called' popular noodles.

The customers come here mainly to have these noodles. There are a few other stalls here but this stall is the one that brings in the customers.

Awesome Curry Noodles at Restoran Ping Zhang, Kg. Simee

On my recent trip back to Ipoh, I went in search of my favourite curry noodles in Kg. Simee. I have been a regular customer at this place for many years especially when I lived in Ipoh.  Now that I have moved to KL, I only go back to Ipoh for short visits and I have missed eating at this place.  This stall is in the coffeeshop called Restoran Ping Zhang and easily located at the crossroad in Kg Simee near the market.
This curry noodles is different from the others which come with chicken or roasted pork. What it has is 'Liew' which is actually fishballs, tofu, Sar Kot liew and many more goodies. The stall opens from noon till night and you can also have a choice of plain soup noodles (Ching Thong) which is also very tasty.

This stall originally started as a mobile stall where the guy's father used to cycle and sell curry noodles in the Canning Garden and Ipoh Garden area. They later decided to stay put in Kg. Simee at this coffeeshop. Business is good and he has his loyal customers packing his place. If you are in Ipoh and looking for good curry noodles, head over to this place in Kg. Simee and enjoy every drop of his curry.

Restaurant Mun Kou Ziang at Old Klang Road

This is the first time that I've been to this restaurant.  My friend had been telling me about this place some time back. We went to Taman OUG the other day with my friend to buy some groceries and at the same time to see what the area had in terms of good food. We managed to park and get our groceries but we found that most of the restaurants were very full, being lunchtime. Finally, we decided to head back along Old Klang Road.
My friend then suggested that we go to this restaurant that she told us about which is good for Bak Kut Teh. Parking here was very easy and we actually parked in front of the restaurant. It was a nice and cool place unlike most Bak Kut Teh places where it is crowded and noisy. The serving size is perfect and you can even dine alone here as they do cater for single diners.
There were only three of us and we ordered our choice cuts with some Chinese tea. When food was served, I was happy with the size of the serving as we were not big eaters.

The yam rice served here is awesome and I love the bak kut teh soup which did not have the overpowering smell of herbs. The Yew Char Koay dipped in the soup was also awesome.  We enjoyed the streaky pork and the pork knuckle in vinegar. This is one place that I like where I can enjoy Bak Kut Teh in comfort and without overeating.  Just perfect! Getting here is easy as it is located on the side of  Old Klang Road heading towards  Mid Valley. It is just about 100 metres before the interchange to the Federal Highway and the tunnel leading to the city centre.

Fine dining at Gateway to India

We were invited for dinner last night at a restaurant called Gateway to India, in Solaris Mont Kiara. This restaurant is situated just above the Cold Storage and is easy to locate. We arrived there at around 7pm and headed straight to the restaurant. There was no crowd there so we could choose our table.
I have not been to a Fine Dining Indian restaurant and this would be an experience for me. The deco inside the restaurant was nice and cosy and the staff were very polite and attentive.  We were given a menu each to choose our dishes but we left it to our host to do the ordering.
